Damaged bones could one day
be repaired using tissue grown in the laboratory,
thanks to technology being dev- eloped in Bath.
The technology being worked
on at the University of Bath uses stem cells taken
from bone marrow and could one day help accident
victims and sufferers of conditions such as
osteoporosis and cancer.
The work has been boosted
through a £310,000 grant given to the university by
a Government research body.
Stem cells can be used in
this way because they have yet to develop into
specialist cell types.
